Yoga, unifying globe in its quest of good health and fitness: Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that yoga is unifying the globe in its quest for good health and wellness, while praising the Indian embassy in Doha for its “wonderful effort” in hosting a yoga session for individuals of 114 nationalities.

The Prime Minister also mentioned the Ministry of Ayush signing a “host nation agreement” with the World Health Organization to create the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat, and said India is honoured to be home to such a cutting-edge facility.

He stated that this centre would help to make the world a better place by harnessing our rich traditional traditions for global good.

Traditional medicines and wellness techniques from India are quite popular across the world, he said, adding that the WHO centre will go a long way toward improving society’s wellbeing.

The World Health Organization had previously tweeted that it and the Indian government had decided to build the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in order to maximise the potential of traditional treatments using contemporary science and technology.
