Vitamin D Deficiency Found In 80% COVID-19 Patients
The study published in ‘The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism’, found 80 percent, COVID-19 patients admitted in a hospital in Spain to be vitamin D-deficient. The researchers also noticed that men had lower vitamin D levels than women.
Vitamin D-deficient COVID-19 patients had greater prevalence of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases, raised serum ferritin and troponin levels, as well as a longer length of hospital stay.Another study found that vitamin D sufficiency may lessen the oxygen requirement in COVID-19 patients and fasten the treatment process
Vitamin D is the only nutrient in our body formed when exposed to sunlight. However, up to 50% of the world’s population may not get enough sun.The flesh of fatty fish (such as trout, salmon, tuna, and mackerel) and fish liver oils are among the best sources.Other sources are red meat, liver.egg yolks, fortified foods such as some fat spreads and breakfast cereals.Excluding fortified foods, mushrooms are the only good plant source of vitamin D.Like humans, mushrooms can synthesize this vitamin when exposed to UV light
face coverings (nose &mouth) should be part of new normal.
Smoking in any form at this time should be banned in public places as it may increase the spread of virus
Teamwork and feeling of openness is important for winning this Corona war
