The NHS recommends that vitamin B12 or folate deficiency anaemia should be recognised and treated as soon as possible since, while many symptoms resolve with therapy, certain difficulties caused by the disorder are permanent if not addressed. According to the Cleveland Clinic, “Vitamin B12 or folate deficient anaemia can induce a variety of symptoms.” These normally appear gradually, but if left untreated, they can worsen.”
According to the organisation, if neurological disorders occur as a result of vitamin B12 insufficiency, “they may not be curable.”
