Amid an unprecedented surge in Covid cases in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started a mass vaccination programme, ‘Tika Utsav’, that will be conducted from April 11 to April 14 with an aim to inoculate a maximum number of people eligible.
On Sunday, the PM tweeted to mark the beginning of Tika Utsav and posted four requests along with his message.
In a statement he urged people to keep four things in mind, including “each one, vaccinate one”, “each one, treat one” and “each one, save one”.
Several states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are kicking off with appeals being made to eligible people to get themselves vaccinated during the Tika Utsav.
In Uttar Pradesh, Tika Utsav started with 6,000 vaccination centres in the state. CM Adityanath Yogi will take part in the Webinars on vaccination on all the days of the drive along with the Governor.
Bihar is about to vaccinated four lakh people during ‘Tika Utsav’, said CM Nitish Kumar and appealed people to come forward for vaccination to contain the corona pandemic.
Karnataka CM YS Yeddiyurappa called the vaccine the “biggest weapon” in fight against coronavirus as he urged eligible people in the southern state to get vaccinated.
Over 10 crore people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses in the country since the mass inoculation drive began earlier this year, making India the fastest nation to reach the milestone.
