In the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital premises, a compactor machine operator was detained for suspected carelessness in managing rubbish bags containing biological waste.
On the walkway near one of the hospital’s gates, five bags of trash, including syringes and gloves, were discovered. The garbage should have been compacted and disposed of in the compactor.
An officer stated, “This act of neglect might result in the spread of bacterial illness.”
Debasish Roy, a resident of Dum Dum’s Shyamnagar Road, was identified as the suspect by police.
