PALAKKAD: A 19-year-old college student who was bitten by her neighbor’s dog last month died on Thursday while receiving rabies treatment at Thrissur Medical College Hospital (MCH).
Sreelakshmi, of Padinjakara home in Mankara, Palakkad, was bitten on her way to college in Coimbatore on May 30.
Her relatives stated that she received the anti-rabies shots advised by doctors following the event. She did, however, have a high temperature, which is one of the indicators of rabies, and was admitted to the MCH two days ago.
She passed away at 3 a.m. Veena George, the Minister of Health, has requested a report from the Director of Health Services. She further stated that a team lead by the Palakkad district surveillance officer will be established to investigate the occurrence.
“After the event, Sreelakshmi received four anti-rabies immunizations.” Still, she died,” Sandeep, a relative, said. He stated that the family and others were distraught and terrified since the dog had bitten others, including its owner.
