‘Don’t panic’, says Delhi CM as Delhi reports first case of Monkeypox

After the first case of Monkeypox was discovered in Delhi on Sunday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged people not to worry and assured them that the “best team is on the case to prevent the virus’s spread.”

He said that separate isolation wards have been made at LNJP hospital for Monkeypox-infected patients. “First case of Monkeypox detected in Delhi. The patient is stable and recovering. There’s no need to panic. The situation is under control. We have made a separate isolation ward at LNJP. Our best team is on the case to prevent the spread and protect Delhiites,” tweeted Arvind Kejriwal.

A 34-year-old guy with no travel history has been diagnosed with Monkeypox in Delhi.

This is India’s fourth case of the viral sickness, and the first without a travel history.

With a fever and skin rashes, he was brought to the hospital. However, the patient is in good health.

Previously, instances in India were among nationals returning from the Middle East, but in Thailand, an international resident in the country tested positive for Monkeypox.

Monkeypox in India

The first instance of the Monkeypox virus was discovered in India on July 14 when a UAE visitor returned to Kerala. He was accepted into Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

On July 18, India announced its second incidence of monkeypox in Kerala’s Kannur district. On July 22, India announced its third case of monkeypox in the Malappuram district of Kerala.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the virus a public health emergency of worldwide concern earlier on Saturday, citing the growing monkeypox outbreak in more than 70 nations.
