On Thursday afternoon, an unnamed caller placed a phoney bomb threat call to Medanta hospital, leading security services to dispatch the bomb squad.
According to the FIR filed on the complaint of Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, medical director of Medanta hospital, around 12.15 p.m., they received a threatening call from an unknown number at their contact centre at Medanta hospital. “The caller stated that a bomb was kept in the hospital and that a terrorist assault was possible.” “A panic situation occurred as a result of the call, which disrupted the hospital’s functioning,” the complainant stated in the FIR.
According to police, a bomb disposal unit and a dog squad were promptly summoned to the hospital.
“All the agencies involved were instantly alerted,” a senior police official stated. The area was blocked off and a thorough search was carried out. It turned out to be a prank phone call.”
The caller, according to police, has yet to be identified. “The caller’s last location has been tracked to Delhi, and attempts are on to apprehend the individual,” a police officer who requested anonymity said.
According to authorities, a FIR was filed against the accused at Sadar police station under sections 336 (endangering the life or personal safety of others) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
