The Omicron type is currently the most common in the country, and the current rise of COVID-19 cases in the country has been reducing steadily since January 21, according to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, who spoke to the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Mr. Mandaviya noted in a written response that the Union Ministry of Health changed its ‘Guidelines for overseas arrivals’ after the World Health Organization (WHO) classified Omicron, a highly mutated version of SARSCoV-2 virus, as a Variant of Concern (VoC).
“Currently, the Omicron variety is the most common in the country. “Since January 21, 2022, the present rise of COVID-19 cases in the country has shown a persistent falling trend,” he stated.
