G. Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Northeast Region Development, has urged Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to ensure that the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Adilabad and Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal, which are being built under the Prime Minister Swasthiya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), are operationalized as soon as possible by hiring enough staff.
Mr. Reddy stated in a letter to the Chief Minister that the PMSSY, which was launched by the Vajpayee government, envisions the establishment of institutions such as the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and the upgrading of government medical colleges to add 150-200 beds, new operation theatres, 8-10 super speciality departments, and over 15 new post-graduate seats.
The government has allocated a total of 120 crore to the medical colleges in Warangal and Adilabad in order to improve healthcare quality. Despite a delay in receiving the State’s part last year, the Central government finished the construction of both institutes.
According to a news release, the Minister has asked the Chief Minister to guarantee that both institutes have sufficient staff and to discharge the outstanding balance of the State’s part in the case of RGIMS.
