India’s Covid immunisation campaign is the essence of Sabka Prayas’ power: Mandaviya

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Tuesday that the vaccination journey has been amazing and an embodiment of the force of ‘Sabka Prayas’ as India’s cumulative COVID-19 vaccine coverage reached 181.56 crore.

“India’s vaccination journey has been exceptional and an essence of the strength of ‘Sabka Prayas,'” he stated in a tweet, citing the spirit of ‘Jan-Bhagidari.’ The country’s immunisation journey was also charted by the Health Minister.

On January 16, 2021, India launched the world’s largest COVID immunisation campaign. As of June 9, 2021, India had provided 25 crore COVID-19 vaccination doses in 145 days. The immunisation coverage hit 50 crore people on August 4, 2021.

On June 21, 2021, a new phase of COVID-19 immunisation universalization began.

On September 7, 2021, India passed the 75-crore vaccination mark, and on October 21, 2021, it passed the 100-crore vaccination mark.
A total of 125 crore vaccination doses were provided across the country on December 2, 2021. On January 9, 2022, India passed the 150-million-vaccine threshold, and on February 19, it passed the 175-million-vaccine mark.

COVID-19 immunisation coverage has achieved 1,81,56,01,944 as of March 22.

COVID-19 immunisation for children aged 12 to 14 years old began on March 16, 2022. The first dose of COVID-19 vaccination has been given to almost 34 lakh (34,19,633) adolescents so far.

As part of the countrywide immunisation campaign, the Indian government has been supplying free COVID vaccinations to states and union territories. The Union Government would acquire and deliver (free of charge) to States and UTs 75 percent of the vaccines manufactured by vaccine makers in the country in the next phase of the COVID19 immunisation effort.
