Adar Poonawalla, CEO of the Serum Institute of India (SII), stated on Wednesday that “Made in India” COVID-19 vaccinations offer better protection against coronavirus infection than mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. The COVID-19 vaccines, which were developed in India, provide better protection against the disease than mRNA vaccines like Pfizer and Moderna, the SII CEO told ANI.
“It’s good that vaccinations like Pfizer and Moderna aren’t offered in India,” Poonawala said, “because in countries like the United States, individuals have taken second and third booster doses and still many are infected with Corona,” he said.
When asked about the Covishield COVID-19 vaccine’s export, the SII CEO stated that India has so far exported it to more than 80 nations.
So far, we’ve shipped Covishield to more than 80 nations, totaling 10 million doses. Due to a decrease in incidence, the need for the COVID vaccine has decreased, “added he.
Many patients were hospitalised in several places where the mRNA vaccine was given, and cases were reported in those nations because they were not providing good protection against the viral infection, “he continued.
