India’s COVID tally fell below 3000 for the third day in a row, as the country recorded 2,827 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The country’s active caseload now stands at 19,067, accounting for 0.04 percent of all positive cases in India. The daily positive rate of COVID in India is 0.60 percent, while the weekly positivity rate is 0.72 percent.
In the previous 24 hours, 3,230 people have recovered, bringing the total number of recovered patients since the start of the pandemic to 4,25,70,165.
According to the government, the national COVID-19 recovery rate is 98.74 percent.
With 24 more fatalities, the death toll has risen to 5,24,181.
Across the previous 24 hours, 4,71,276 COVID-19 tests were administered, bringing the total number of tests administered in the country to more than 84.24 crore (84,24,58,167).
According to preliminary data, India’s COVID-19 immunisation coverage has surpassed 190.83 crore (1,90,83,96,788) as of 7 a.m. today. This was accomplished through 2,38,04,578 sessions.
COVID-19 immunisation for children aged 12 to 14 years old began on March 16, 2022. More than 3.10 Cr (3,10,92,227) teenagers have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.
Similarly, COVID-19 cautionary dosage administration for the age range 18-59 years began on April 10, 2022.
So far, the Central Government has delivered about 1,93,53,58,865 vaccination doses to States and UTs through free channels and direct state purchase.
Meanwhile, the Central Government has agreed to shorten the time between the second and booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccination for those travelling overseas to 90 days, according to sources.
On the request of US President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend the Second Global COVID Virtual Summit on May 12.
The Summit aims to stimulate new measures to address the ongoing difficulties of the COVID epidemic and to strengthen the global health security infrastructure.
