2,582 more Covid instances reported in India

The Ministry of Health and Family Affairs was notified on Tuesday that India had recorded 2,582 new cases of Covid and 222 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. Compared to the previous day (January 1), when just 173 instances were registered, this represents a significant increase.

1,51186 Covid tests were carried out in the past 24 hours, a significant rise over the 92,955 tests carried out in the 24 hours prior (January 1). In India, 45,769 doses of the vaccine have been given in the previous 24 hours, and the recovery rate is at 98.8%.

The weekly positivity rate is currently 0.13 percent, while the daily positivity rate is at 0.09 percent.
The overall number of Covid recoveries, as reported by the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs, is 4,41,45,667, with 91.12 billion tests already completed.

The COVID-19 immunisation programme for children aged 12 to 14 years old began on March 16, 2022. More than 4.12 Cr (4,12,35,971) teenagers have received the COVID-19 vaccine’s first dose thus far. The COVID-19 cautionary dosage administration for the age range of 18 to 59 years also began on April 10, 2022, according to the official announcement.

It is important to note that there are now more health concerns in the nation as Chief Scientist of the World Health Organization Soumya Swaminathan stated on Friday that there are over 300 sub-variants of viruses and that XBB, a recombinant virus, is of particular concern because it is immune evasive.

A recent spike was seen in the fast-spreading variation XBB, which is a recombinant lineage between the Omicron sublineages BJ.1 and BA.2.75. Following a high-level conference last week with senior health officials to discuss the development of new subvariants of Omicron, the decision was made to continue mask use and COVID-appropriate behaviour nationwide.
