India reported a modest increase in coronavirus infections on Wednesday, with 5,379 instances of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, up from 4,417 the day before, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The country had 7,094 recoveries in the previous 24 hours, bringing the overall number of recoveries from the virus to 4,38,93,590. The rate of recovery is 98.7%. According to the government, 88.80 crore total tests have been performed, with 3,21,917 performed in the previous 24 hours.
India’s active caseload now stands at 50,594 at a rate of 0.11 percent.
The COVID-19 infection has a daily positivity rate of 1.67 percent and a weekly positivity rate of 2.0 percent.
To combat the spread of illness, the Union Government is committed to speeding up and broadening the coverage of COVID-19 immunisation across the country. The national COVID-19 vaccine campaign began on January 16, 2021. The next phase of COVID-19 vaccine universalization began on June 21, 2021. The immunisation campaign has been stepped up with the availability of additional vaccinations, advance awareness of vaccine availability to states and UTs for improved planning, and simplification of the vaccine supply chain.
As part of the statewide immunisation campaign, the Government of India has been supplying free COVID vaccines to states and union territories. In the next phase of the COVID-19 immunisation programme, the Union Government would acquire and deliver (at no cost) to States and UTs 75% of the vaccines manufactured in the country by vaccine makers.
So far, 213.91 crore total vaccine doses (94.40 cr Second Dose and 17.16 cr Precaution Dose) have been delivered as part of the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, with 18,81,319 doses administered in the previous 24 hours alone.
