Health Ministry requests for early hearing for NEET PG counselling as doctors continue strike

Due to the EWS, OBC reservation in the All Indian Quota, AIQ topic, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Postgraduate or NEET PG Counselling 2021 has become a major issue. The Health Ministry has now stepped up to their cause as doctors continue to strike due to the delay.

Many current and future doctors are requesting NEET PG Counselling 2021. According to a report in IANS, the Union Health Ministry has now sought that the Supreme Court, SC, hear the case as soon as possible. It even adds that the physicians’ strike has now lasted approximately 11 days.

The admissions of nearly 2 lakh NEET PG applicants are dependent on this counselling. While it is likely that the number of students appearing for it would be less, the delay in counselling is causing a problem for many. Reports suggest that these strikes are leading to a scarcity of hospital staff.

Further, many NEET PG aspirants have been complaining that this delay has wasted their entire year. Before these strikes began, many people even took to social media demanding a NEET PG Counselling 2021 schedule. This happened when the hearing was not delayed to January, 2022.

No sooner did the EWS, OBC reservation in AIQ experience a delay to January, than the doctors in many places went on a strike. Till now, resident doctors of hospitals in Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat and some other places have supported the cause and joined these strikes to raise their voice against the issue. Some reports even mention that doctors are also boycotting emergency services.

Only once the Supreme Court has given its approval will NEET PG Counseling 2021 begin. Currently, the Supreme Court has requested that the Centre revisit the same income criteria used to assess eligibility for individuals applying under the EWS and OBC categorieshealth minister
