As COVID-19 cases increase, health experts suggest that pilgrimages be avoided

With Covid cases on the rise across the nation, a health expert has recommended residents to follow the Central Government’s Covid procedures and, in particular, to avoid yatras or public outings in order to limit the transmission of the virus. According to the health ministry dashboard, India’s daily Covid count increased again on Monday, with 17,073 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 4,34,07,046. In the previous 24 hours, 21 additional individuals died and 15,208 recovered from the infection.

The number of active cases in the country has risen to 94,420, accounting for 0.21 percent of all cases. Monday’s cases represent a 45 percent increase over Sunday’s total of 11,739 persons who tested positive for Covid.

Dr Sujeet Kumar Singh, Director of the National Centre for Disease Control, told ANI, “Omicron sub-variants have not raised the fatalities rate, but individuals are not following Covid appropriate behaviour.” It is a source of concern, and the infection rate is rising as a result.”

“Omicron variations have not increased fatalities,” he stated. Deaths have instead been documented in patients with co-morbidities. We must continue to obey the golden rule that has kept us safe from Covid.

We must wear masks, practise COVID-appropriate behaviour, maintain social distance, and be vaccinated as soon as possible.”

Dr. Sujeet went on to emphasise the significance of community’suraksha kavach,’ saying, “Community suraksha kavach is crucial, which involves immunisation and COVID proper behaviour.” Children above the age of 12 must express an interest in COVID-19 immunisation.”

He further stated that anyone considering Amarnath yatras, Govardhan yatras, and other yatras should avoid them due to the danger of infection.

Covid vaccination coverage

In India, total vaccination coverage has surpassed 197.11 crore, with 2,49,646 doses provided to eligible beneficiaries in the previous 24 hours. Over 4.41 crore recipients have received the precautionary dosage out of the total doses provided.
