The DDMA reinstated the punishment for not wearing face masks in public areas in April.
The announcement came just days after Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya convened a conference to discuss the appearance of the new Omicron variety.
Mandaviya emphasised the importance of community awareness in order to continue implementing the COVID Appropriate Behaviour (CAB), especially with the forthcoming festival season.
The scientists, doctors, and top administrators also advocated for increased surveillance and genomic sequencing.
