A FINAL YEAR MBBS student from Sion hospital in Mumbai have been tested positive for coronavirus .He took a second dose of COVID-19 vaccine few days ago. Doctors said even after taking both doses it takes several days for immunity to build.
The 21 year old received the second dose of Covishield vaccine last week. After the dose he developed mild symptoms of the viral infection and when underwent for the test that report resulted positive. He was admitted in the hospital and other students who stay with him in hostel has been quarantine.
According to the doctors it depends on the immune respone “Not everyone who gets vaccinated will develop an immune response in a set time frame.”
Dr Mohan Joshi , dean at Sion Hospital said , “We have come across some cases where health workers got infected after the vaccination. That is because they got infected before the body could generate the immunity. Even after getting vaccinated we are advising staff to follow all Covid-19 safety protocols.”
