The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday that over 193.53 crore vaccine doses have been distributed to states and union territories as part of the statewide COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
According to official data, about 12.75 crore balance and unutilized vaccination doses are still accessible with states and union territories. “So far, more than 193.53 crores (1,93,53,58,865) in vaccine doses have been distributed to states and union territories through the Government of India (free of cost channel) and the direct state procurement category. More over 12.75 crores (12,75,03,205) of unutilized COVID vaccination doses remain with the states and UTs to be administered “read the official statistics.
The Central Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country. The nationwide COVID-19 vaccination started on January 16, 2021.
The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced on June 21, 2021. The vaccination drive has been ramped up through the availability of more vaccines, advanced visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs for enabling better planning by them and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.
As part of the countrywide vaccination campaign, the Government of India has been supplying free COVID-19 vaccinations to states and union territories. In the next phase of the COVID-19 vaccination programme, the Union Government would acquire and deliver (at no cost) to States and UTs 75% of the vaccines manufactured in the country by vaccine makers.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a total of 196.18 crores of COVID-19 vaccine doses have been delivered so far.
COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 12 to 14 years old began on March 16, 2022. The first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination was given to around 3.57 crore (3,57,40,210) adolescents.

Similarly, COVID-19 cautionary dosage administration for the age range 18-59 years began on April 10, 2022. To date, a total of 4,15,48,586 prophylactic doses have been provided to qualified recipients.
On Monday, India reported 12,781 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 76700. According to data from the Union Health Ministry, active cases account for 0.18 percent of total infections.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 8,537 persons have been recovered from coronavirus infection, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 4,27,07,900. The nationwide recovery rate for COVID-19 was 98.62 percent.
The daily positivity rate is 4.32 percent, while the weekly positivity rate is 2.62%.
The new illnesses were discovered after completing 2,96,050 tests in a single day, while the ministry noted that 85.81 crore COVID-19 tests had been performed throughout the country to far.
