India has recorded 18,930 new COVID cases

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday, India registered 18,930 new COVID infections in the last 24 hours, a rise of 2,771 infections over the previous day.

On Wednesday, the country had 16,159 new COVID cases. This brings the total number of active cases in the country to 1,19,457.

The daily optimism rate increased from 3.56 percent on Wednesday to 4.32 percent today, while the weekly positivity rate remains at 3.86 percent.

In the previous 24 hours, 14,650 COVID patients recovered, bringing the overall number of recoveries from the disease since the beginning of the pandemic to 4,29,21,977. The percentage of recovery is 98.52 percent.

Death During Covid

During this time, 35 individuals died as a result of the infection. The country’s dead toll has risen to 5,25,305.

4,38,005 COVID tests were done in the previous 24 hours, out of the 86.53 crore COVID tests completed throughout the country so far.

In the previous 24 hours, 11,44,489 COVID shots were provided as part of the countrywide immunisation campaign. So far, 1,98,33,18,772 vaccinations have been administered.

In light of the recent increase in COVID-19 instances recorded throughout the country, the Health Ministry of India asked states and union territories on June 9 to be vigilant and rigorously adhere to COVID-appropriate behaviour.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan asked States/UTs to increase RT-PCR testing, monitoring, clinical management, immunisation, COVID-19 procedures, and adopt prompt preventive measures in a letter to States/UTs. Bhushan also asked the government to use a “five-pronged Strategy.”

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare told the States and UTs on Thursday that around 10.77 crore balance and unutilized COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available for administration.
