According to the Union Health Ministry, India saw a significant increase in daily COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, with the country reporting 8,822 new infections in the previous 24 hours.
On Tuesday, the nation recorded 6,594 new infections, an 18% decrease from Monday’s total of 8,084 COVID-19 cases. With the addition of these new cases today, the active caseload in India has risen to 53,637, accounting for 0.12% of the entire caseload, according to the ministry.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 5,718 persons have been recovered from coronavirus infection, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 4,26,67,088. The recovery rate in India is 98.66%.

The daily positivity rate is 2%, while the weekly positivity rate is 2.35 %.
So far, 85.58 crore COVID-19 tests have been administered across the country, with 4,40,278 administered in the previous 24 hours.
Meanwhile, India’s immunisation programme has surpassed the 195.5 crore dosage threshold. This has been accomplished with 2,51,27,455 sessions.
COVID-19 immunisation for children aged 12-14 years old began on March 16, 2022. So far, more than 3.53 crore (3,53,38,654) adolescents have received the first dose of the COVID vaccination.
So far, more than 193.53 crores (1,93,53,58,865) of vaccine doses have been distributed to states/UTs, with over 13.40 crore (13,40,04,935) of balance and unutilized doses remaining.
