India’s active cases are declining but still, the situation worrisome.The government of India will be starting vaccination from January 16 , the maximum preparations are on track. The Government of India will be procuring 110 lakh Covishield Vaccines and 55 lak of Covaxin vaccine from Bharat BioTech said Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan in a press briefing. “The Government of India agreed to procure 110 lakh Covishield vaccine doses from Serum Institute of India (SII) at Rs 200/dose. 55 lakh doses of Covaxin to be procured from Bharat Biotech(BBIL), of which 38.5 lakh doses priced at Rs 295/dose”.
Bharat BioTech will also provide 16.50 lakh doses free of cost to the Central govt as special gesture said Union Health secretary “BBIL will provide 16.50 lakh doses of Covaxin free of cost to the Central govt as a special gesture.”
The vaccines Covishield & Covaxin both are safe and has been tested by thousands of people said Dr VK Paul who is Member (Health), Niti Aayog.
“Both the vaccines (Covishield & Covaxin) have been authorized for emergency use & there should be no doubt about their safety. They have been tested on thousands of people & side-effects are negligible. There is no risk of any significance.”
