Over 5.58 billion unutilized COVID-19 vaccination doses are accessible with states and territories

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced on Sunday that more than 5.58 crore unutilized COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available for distribution to states and union territories.

The Ministry further stated that over 201.88 crore vaccination doses had been distributed to states and union territories. “More than 201.88 crore (2,01,88,89,325) vaccine doses have been delivered to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and direct state procurement category,” according to the Ministry.

“More than 5.58Cr (5,58,87,590) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available for administration with the States/UTs,” it stated.

The Central Government is dedicated to speeding up and broadening the scope of COVID-19 immunisation across the country. The national COVID-199 vaccine campaign began on January 16, 2021.

The next phase of COVID-19 vaccine universalization began on June 21, 2021.

The immunisation campaign has been stepped up with the availability of additional vaccinations, advance awareness of vaccine availability to states and UTs for improved planning, and simplification of the vaccine supply chain.

As part of the statewide immunisation campaign, the Government of India has been supplying free COVID vaccines to states and union territories.

Meanwhile, India recorded 6,809 new COVID19 instances in the previous 24 hours on Sunday, bringing the total active caseload to 55,114.

However, the country’s weekly positivity rate is presently 2.29 percent, while the daily positivity rate is stated to be 2.12 percent.

As a result, India’s recovery rate is at 98.69%.

In the previous 24 hours, a total of 8,414 patients have recovered, bringing the overall number of recovered patients to 4,38,73,430.

India has performed about 88.71 crore (3,20,820) cumulative tests to far.
