CDC recommends COVID-19 vaccinations for children under age of five in US

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States authorised and recommended the first COVID-19 vaccinations for children under the age of five on Saturday.

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky called it a significant step forward in the battle against COVID-19, adding that the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines available in the United States may be administered safely and successfully in children under the age of five. “Today marks a major milestone in our battle against #COVID19, with the availability of safe and effective vaccinations for children aged 6 months to 5 years. On today’s #DirectorDebrief, I highlight the recent @CDCgov recommendation and the necessity of vaccinating children under the age of five “She used Twitter.

Parents and caregivers may now get their children aged 6 months to 5 years old immunised against COVID-19 using the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines. All children, even those who have previously had COVID-19, should be vaccinated, according to a CDC official statement.

The US CDC Director advised parents to have their children vaccinated against COVID-19, saying that with the FDA’s recent approval and the CDC’s recommendation, approximately 20 million children can now be immunised against COVID-19.

“Based on the extensive scientific evaluation, we now know that the vaccination available in the United States may be administered safely and efficiently in children under the age of five.”

“We have taken another significant step forward in our nation’s fight against COVID-19 by working together, with science leading the way. We know that millions of parents and caregivers want to vaccinate their young children, and with today’s decision, they can. I encourage parents and caregivers who have questions to speak with their doctor, nurse, or local pharmacy to learn more about the advantages of immunizations and the significance of vaccinating their children,” she continued.

The CDC verified that paediatric immunizations for these younger children had begun to be distributed across the country. This week, these immunizations will be offered at paediatric offices, pharmacies, FQHCs, municipal health departments, clinics, and other sites.

It was suggested that parents and caregivers sign.

It advised parents and caregivers to sign up for individualised and confidential health check-ins via text messages and web questionnaires for their children in order to monitor vaccination safety.

According to the official release, this allows them to readily discuss with the CDC how a kid feels after receiving a COVID-19 vaccination.
