Apart from UK, 30 more countries recognise India’s Covid vax certificate

According to authorities acquainted with the subject quoted by the PTI news agency on Thursday, more than 30 nations across the world have now agreed to mutually recognise India’s Covid-19 vaccination certificate. In addition to the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Nepal, Belarus, Lebanon, Armenia, Ukraine, Belgium, Hungary, and Serbia have all consented to mutual recognition with India.

Travelers from a few countries, including South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, and certain European nations, will be required to follow extra procedures in addition to the necessary Covid-19 protocols upon arriving in India. According to the officials quoted by the organisation, these procedures include a post-arrival Covid-19 test in the nation and screening.

According to ministry of external affairs (MEA) spokeswoman Arindam Bagchi, Hungary and Serbia are the most recent additions to the list of nations that have agreed to mutually recognise India’s Covid-19 immunisation certificate.

The development comes days after the UK government decided to remove the requirement of mandatory quarantine for vaccinated Indian passengers after India voiced its displeasure regarding the decision and imposed travel requirements on passengers from Britain in a tit-for-tat move. Soon after, Alex Ellis, British high commissioner to India, said in a tweet, “No quarantine for Indian travellers to the UK fully vaccinated with Covishield or another UK-approved vaccine from 11 October.”

Meanwhile, India delivered around 27 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccinations on Thursday, bringing the total number of vaccine doses provided across the country to 97 crore. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare further stated that when the day-long final report is obtained late at night, daily immunisation counts are anticipated to rise.
