According to statistics published on Friday by the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 13,166 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,28,94,345 and the number of active cases to 1,34,235.
The death toll rose to 5,13,226 with 302 new deaths, according to figures updated at 8 a.m.
For the last 19 days, the daily COVID-19 cases have stayed below one lakh.
The active cases comprise 0.31 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has further improved to 98.49 per cent, the ministry said.
More than 28 lakh vaccine doses were administered till 7 pm Thursday. Of these, over 1.3 lakh were precautionary third doses provided to priority groups
