To speed up immunisation in this group, district health officials have begun unpaid Covid-19 vaccination for pregnant women at eight private hospitals. Aditya Nursing Home, Karuna Nursing Home, SAIMS, Lifecare Hospital, Mission Hospital, Choithram Hospital and Research Centre, and CHL Facilities were among the eight hospitals that began unpaid immunisation of pregnant women on Friday.
Pregnant women will be vaccinated beginning Saturday at the Asian Institute of Infertility.
According to Dr Tarun Gupta, district immunisation incharge, these hospitals were chosen based on the high number of pregnant women who visit their outpatient departments.
The hospitals are supplied vaccines without any cost from health department.
“If any other hospital wants to run unpaid vaccination site for pregnant women, we are ready to provide vaccines to them,” said Dr Gupta.
The private maternity hospital are already running paid vaccination sites. The district authorities, for the first time in mass drive, used Anganwadis to reach out to pregnant women.
Over 13000 pregnant women have already received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccination at government venues as of Thursday night.
In a major vaccination effort, the district hopes to inoculate 45000 pregnant women with Covid-19 vaccinations.
On Friday, 2572 dosages were delivered at 78 different locations. The district has so far administered 42.92 lakh pills, with 14.10 lakh serving as a backup.
