According to statistics published on Wednesday by the Union Health Ministry, India gained 18,833 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 3,38,71,881, while active cases fell to 2,46,687, the lowest in 203 days.
According to figures updated at 8 a.m., the death toll had risen to 4,49,538 with 278 new fatalities.
For the 12th day in a row, the daily increase in new coronavirus infections remained below 30,000.
The active cases account for 0.73 percent of overall infections, the lowest since March 2020, according to the ministry, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was 97.94 percent, the highest since March 2020.
