4,100 Covid fatalities are recorded in 24 hours, with backlog figures added

According to health ministry data, India recorded 4,100 coronavirus-related fatalities in the last 24 hours, with 1,660 new illnesses reported (marginally lower than the previous day). The latest increase in the number of fatalities brings the total to 5,20,855. Since Monday, the country has had fewer than 100 deaths each day.

The COVID death statistics were amended by Maharashtra and Kerala, with Maharashtra recording the bulk of deaths. Since March 20, India has been recording fewer than 2,000 cases per day, despite a recent COVID increase in certain places across the world. On Thursday, Germany, for example, witnessed over 300,000 instances for the first time.

China has been forced to reinstate rigorous controls following a rise caused by the highly transmissible Omicron BA.2 strain. Infections are also on the rise in France, Italy, and the United Kingdom. The spike in these nations has fueled fears of a fourth wave in India.

At the start of this year, India was attacked by the third wave, which was led by Omicron. The number of daily cases has surpassed 3 lakh. However, states throughout the country have reported a decrease in cases in recent weeks.

The health ministry said on Saturday that the weekly positivity rate in India is.29%, while the daily positivity rate is.25%. The active caseload accounts for 0.04 percent of all cases (4,30,18,032), with slightly more than 16,000 active cases.More than 180 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country thus far, with over 1 crore doses previously administered to children aged 12 to 14. The immunisation campaign for this age group began earlier this month.

The United States has the most instances worldwide (7,993,36,777), followed by India.
