In an unfortunate series of events, four people died in a fire that broke out at Mumbra’s Prime Criticare at around 3:40 am on Wednesday.
20 patients were admitted at the non-Covid hospital located in Mumbra’s Kausa when the fire broke out.
The fire blazed out in the meter room of the hospital due tot a short circuit and soon spread to the other areas of the ground-plus-one facility, being operated in a residential hospital.
Three fire engines and five ambulances were rushed to the hospital and patients were shifted to nearby hospitals, but 4 of them collapsed.
Mumbra-Kalwa MLA Jitendra Awhad arrived at the spot and ordered a probe into the matter. He said that CM Uddhav Thackeray has been informed about the unfortunate incident and announced ex-gratia of Rs. 5 Lakh each for the family of the deceased patients while an amount of Rs. 1 Lakh was announced for those injured.
