In response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s tweet, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated on Sunday that more than 13 crore Covid-19 vaccines were administered in India in July.
“It [vaccination drive] is going to accelerate this month. We are proud of our healthcare workers for this achievement,” Mansukh Mandaviya added on Twitter.
On Sunday morning, Rahul Gandhi had posted a video on social media which contained news headlines about vaccine shortages in different parts of India over the past one week. He wrote in Hindi, “July has gone, but vaccine shortages have not. Where are vaccines?”
Newly inducted Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya further said to Rahul Gandhi, “You should be proud of our healthcare workers and the country.”
“I have heard that you are one of the 13 crore people who were vaccinated in July. But you did not say a word for our scientists and did not appeal to the public to get vaccinated. This means you are engaging in petty politics in the name of vaccination. Not the vaccine, it is you who lacks maturity,” Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted.
As of Sunday, a total of 47.02 crore vaccine doses have been administered under the national Covid vaccination drive.
On Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that Delhi has the capacity to administer three lakh doses of the vaccine every day, but is administering only 50,000-80,000 doses per day because there is a shortage of vaccines.
