India reported 12,249 new COVID cases and 13 fatalities

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported 12,249 new COVID-19 cases in India in the previous 24 hours.

Active cases currently account for 0.19 percent of all positive cases in the country. The number of active cases in the country is presently 81,687, with a daily positive rate of 3.94 percent.

According to the Ministry bulletin, up to 13 persons perished from the illness in the previous 24 hours.

A total of 9,862 patients recovered from COVID, bringing the recovery rate to 98.60%.

The total number of COVID recoveries is currently 4,27,25,055.

In the previous 24 hours, 3,10,623 COVID-19 tests were performed. India has performed around 85.88 Cr (85,88,36,977) cumulative tests to date.

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage in India reaches 196.45 crore, with 1,96,45,99,906 persons vaccinated.

Covid vaccines

COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 12 to 14 years old began on March 16, 2022. So far, the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has been provided to 3,58,99,199 adolescents.

As part of the statewide vaccination campaign, the Government of India has been supplying free COVID vaccines to states and union territories. In the next phase of the COVID19 vaccination programme, the Union Government would acquire and deliver (at no cost) to States and UTs 75% of the vaccines manufactured in the country by vaccine makers.

So date, more than 193.53 crore (1,93,53,58,865) vaccine doses have been distributed to states/UTs through the Government of India (free of cost channel) and the direct state purchase category.

More than 12.53 Cr (12,53,04,250) of balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available for administration with the States/UTs.

In light of the recent increase in COVID-19 instances recorded throughout the country, the Health Ministry of India asked states and union territories on June 9 to be vigilant and rigorously adhere to COVID-appropriate behaviour.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan asked States/UTs on Thursday to increase RT-PCR testing, monitoring, clinical management, vaccination, COVID-19 procedures, and adopt prompt preventive measures in a letter. Bhushan also encouraged the administration to use a “five-fold” strategy.
