Covid-19: Omicron BA causes reduction in daily cases in India to 1,549, worldwide rise was driven by two variants

For the second day in a row, India reported less than 2,000 Covid-19 cases, despite the fact that numerous nations are reporting new Covid outbreaks. According to the health ministry, 1,549 new cases were reported in the previous 24 hours, bringing the country’s active caseload to 25,106, or 0.06 percent of total infections. The ministry also stated that 2,652 patients had’recovered’ in the preceding 24 hours, bringing the national’recovery’ rate to 98.74%.

On Sunday, the country also reported 31 deaths. In India, the total number of persons who have died as a result of Covid is estimated to be approximately 5.16 lakh. The mortality rate has remained constant at 1.20 percent.
Since Sunday, about 3.84 lakh tests have been performed, and over two lakh vaccination doses have been administered. Since the beginning of the epidemic, India has done approximately 78.30 crore tests.

So far, 181.24 billion vaccine doses have been administered.

Nearly 18 lakh doses of Corbevax – the only vaccine now available for this age range – have been provided in the immunisation push for youngsters aged 12-14, which began last week.

Meanwhile, coronavirus infections are on the rise in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and South Korea. The distribution of the omicron form is also causing an increase in the United Kingdom. According to leading medical expert Dr. Anthony Fauci, the United States will experience a fresh rise in the next weeks.
