A World Health Organization (WHO) spokeswoman stated on Friday that the end of the Covid-19 epidemic was still a long way off, citing a recent increase in cases, particularly in China. The UN health agency had previously stated that the pandemic’s acute phase might finish this year, but that it would depend on how soon we met its goal of vaccinating 70% of the population in each nation, among other things.
Margaret Harris stated the epidemic was “far from done” in terms of when it might end. “We are unquestionably in the midst of an epidemic,” she continued.
Covid instances began to rise throughout the world last week, according to the WHO, after more than a month of reduction, with lockdowns in Asia and China’s Jilin province struggling to contain an outbreak.
According to the WHO, the increases were caused by a mix of reasons, including the highly transmissible Omicron variation and its cousin, the BA.2 sub-variant, as well as the raising of public health and social policies.
