A 22-year-old medical student from Punjab’s Barnala district died in Ukraine on Wednesday after seeking treatment for a month after suffering an Ischemia stroke there.
Chandan Jindal studied medicine at Vinnytsia’s National Pirogov Memorial Medical University.
Shishan, Chandan’s father, has written to the Union government, requesting assistance in returning his son’s remains to India. “We received notification about the student from MEA and are in contact with the family,” Barnala DC Kumar Saurabh Raj said. The body has not yet arrived in India.”
“He was a very intelligent student,” said Neeraj Jindal, a municipal councillor in Barnala Nagar Council and also state vice president of the BJP. He attended Barnala school until class ten, then moved to Chandigarh for tutoring in preparation for a pre-medical competition. He was one of his school’s best students. He travelled to Ukraine to study medicine four years ago. Even there, he was doing well.” “On February 2, he suffered a cerebral stroke, and we found out about it on February 3,” Neeraj continued. On February 7, both my father Krishan Gopal Jindal and Chandan’s father travelled to Ukraine. He couldn’t be brought back in such condition since he was on a ventilator.”
