The Union Health Ministry on Wednesday assured that it has no sign of concerns against AstraZeneca vaccine among rising fear of blood clot reports.
Addressing a press briefing, Dr VK Paul, Member-Health, Niti Aayog said, “India’s group that looks at adverse effects is aware of the issue and are tracking the information available.”
Keeping in view the 10 nations halting the vaccine use, the health ministry said, “There are reports on AstraZeneca’s vaccine relationship with thrombotic events in people who received the vaccine. The European medical agency says it is a precautionary measure and there’s no data, assessment being done.”
Union Health minister: 16 AIIMS under different stages of implementation since last 7 yrs.
Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Tuesday stated while addressing Rajya Sabha, that a total of 157 medical colleges are under different stages of implementation out of which 58 are undergoing first phase, 24 are in the second and 75 recently announced are under the third phase.
He said, “Besides, there were 50,000 medical college seats in the country till 2014 and after that, in the last over six years, 30,000 additional medical colleges seats have been created. More seats would be added with the setting up of these new colleges.”
“So far, 22 All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have been sanctioned under the Modi government. Out of these, 16 AIIMS have been in different stages of implementation since the last seven years,” he added.
In response to a question during the question hour with supplementary, the minister said, “under phase 3, four medical colleges have been approved in Karnataka in the year 2019-20 to be establishes at Chikkamangaluru, Haveri, Yadgiri and Chikkaballapura with intake capacity of 150 MBBS seats each.”
He said the medical colleges have been approved at a cost of Rs. 325 crores each to be shared between the Centre and the state government in the ratio of 60:40. The Narendra Modi government, in its second tenure, sanctioned 75 medical colleges in various states of the country. These are preferably in the aspirational districts and areas where the most deprived people live and where there is no medical college either in private or government sector, said Dr. Harsh Vardhan.
15 states/UTs have not reported any COVID-19 deaths in last 24 hours : MoHFW
According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare the 15 states/UTs have not reported any COVID19 deaths in last 24 hours. These are Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Lakshadweep, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Dadra&Nagar Haveli & Daman&Diu, Nagaland, Tripura, Ladakh, Manipur, Mizoram, A&N Islands & Arunachal Pradesh.
India has crossed 3.17 crore vaccinations , the total vaccinations given to HCWs is 74,08,521 who have taken single dose and 43,97,613 HCWs who have taken second dose. The Frontline workers who have taken vaccines single dose is 74,26,479 and 13,23,527 who have taken the second dose of vaccine.
The total 18,63,623 vaccine doses were given till 7pm yesterday on 59th day nationwide #COVID19 vaccination .
Supreme court notice on plea filed by IMA on allowing Ayurveda to practice surgery
The Supreme Court on Monday issued a notice to Central Council of Indian Medicine on a petition filed by Indian Medical Association (IMA) challenging a recent decision by the government on allowing Ayurveda doctor to conduct 58 types of surgical procedures. The notification by the CCIM has listed 39 types of general surgeries and 19 procedures involving the eye , ear , nose and throat by amending the Indian Medicine Central Council (Post Graduate Ayurveda Education) Regulations,2016.
A bench comprising Chief Justice S A Bobde and Justices A S Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian issued notices to the Ministry of Ayush, CCIM and National Medical Commission while seeking their replies on the petition.
According to the November 20,2020 gazette notification the procedures listed that includes removal of metallic and non- metallic foreign bodies from non-vital organs, traumatic wound management etc.

Dr. Harsh Vardhan to visit Bhopal to inaugurate multiple health facilities at NIREH
Union Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan will start his one-day visit to Bhopal to inaugurate the New Green Campus of National Institute for Research in Environmental Health (NIREH), Bhopal along with multiple facilities at AIIMS Bhopal tomorrow 13th March, 2021. He will thereafter attend to events at CSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal in his capacity as Union Minister of Science and Technology.
Union Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan will start his one-day visit to Bhopal to inaugurate the New Green Campus of National Institute for Research in Environmental Health (NIREH), Bhopal along with multiple facilities at AIIMS Bhopal tomorrow 13th March, 2021. He will thereafter attend to events at CSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal in his capacity as Union Minister of Science and Technology.
He shall lay the Foundation Stone of Administrative Block and dedicate the Auditorium and Skill Lab of AIIMS, Bhopal to the community at 2 pm. He will also be inaugurating the Mycology Advanced Resource Centre (MARC) established with collaboration of ICMR and the Cancer Treatment Centre (CTC). A plantation drive and interaction with the patients who have undergone cochlear implant has also been planned.
In the programme scheduled at 4.15 pm in CSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal, Dr. Harsh Vardhan will lay the Foundation Stone of CSIR-AMPRI Bamboo Composite Structure/Site, inaugurate the Analytical High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) Facility, the Centre for Advanced Radiation Shielding & Geopolymeric Materials (CARS&GM). He will be visiting the Technology Exhibits and thereafter interact with Industry Partners. He will also be releasing Fly Ash Compendium of CSIR-AMPRI after his interaction.
The final event of the day shall be Dr. Harsh Vardhan’s address to the Scientists at MOU Signing ceremony between the Dept. of MSME, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, MPCST, Vigyan Bharti and CSIR at CSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal, which is scheduled from 6.30 pm to 7 pm.

Accroding to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare the active cases of Covid-19 are 1,97,237 and total number of deaths are 1,58,306.

The Central government on Thursday announced that Bharat Biotech’s indigenously developed COVAXIN has been moved out of the “clinical trial mode” and now COVAXIN has been granted the restricted emergency use authorization. The Dr.V K Paul who is the member (Health) NITI Aayog said that COVAXIN has been granted permission for restricted use in emergency situations in the public interest and both COVID-19 vaccines Bharat Biotech’s COVAXIN and COVISHIELD which manufactured by Serum Institute of India (SII) have the same licensure status now.
“The condition of it (Covaxin) being required to be administered under clinical trial mode is no more there,” said Dr.VK Paul
“Both the COVID-19 vaccines Covaxin and Covishield have the same licensure status. Covaxin has stood the test of time in terms of great safety. Only 311 individuals have minimal side effects. It is the triumph for India’s research and development enterprise and Science and technology enterprise.” Dr.Paul added
