India reports a surge of 1,26,789 cases taking the active caseload to 9,10,319.
Ten States including Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Keralaand Punjab have shown a rise in the COVID daily new cases. 84.21% of the new cases are reported from these 10 states.

Eight states have shown a steep rise in the number of Covid cases in the last 24 hours. A cumulative of 84.61% of 72,330 new cases registered in the last 24 hours are from the state of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Punjab, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. (PIB)
India’s total Active Caseload has reached 5,84,055. It now comprises 4.78% of the country’s total Positive Cases. A net incline of 31,489 cases recorded from the total active caseload in the last 24 hours.
Five states, namely Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh and Punjab cumulatively account for 78.9% of the total active cases in the country. Maharashtra alone accounts for more than 61% of the active caseload of the country.
459 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
Six States account for 83.01% of the new deaths. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties (227). Punjab follows with 55 daily deaths.

India continues to report daily high surge in the number of Covid cases. In the last 24 hours, 56,211 new cases have been reported, 78.56% of which are from Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat.
India’s total Active Caseload has reached 5,40,720 today. India’s present active caseload now stands at 4.47% of India’s total Positive Cases. A net incline of 18,912 cases recorded from the total active caseload in the last 24 hours.
As India witnesses second wave of Covid-19, more than 60,000 are being reported daily, the highest tally of the year. 68,020 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 25,681. It is followed by Punjab with 2,470 while Kerala reported 1,984 new cases. India’s total Active Caseload has reached 2,88,394 today, comprising 2.50% of the total Positive Cases. A net incline of 17,112 cases recorded from the total active caseload in the last 24 hours.

Students suspended for a month for traveling, breaking Covid norms
Amritsar: 60 MBBS students from Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) have been rusticated for breaking the college’s Covid-19 norms and travelling to Jodhpur, out of which 18 have been tested Covid positive.
According to the authorities of the hospital, the students returned to their respective hostels last Sunday from Jodhpur and checked into their rooms without informing the authorities.
Dr Rajiv Devgan, principal, GMCH Amritsar, said, “We got all of them tested and 18 have tested positive. All 60 have been issued notice and rusticated for a month from the classes and hostels both. Even if they attend classes, they will be marked absent.”
According to a recent report released by the Health Ministry, nearly 86% new cases have been reported along with 89 deaths in 6 states of India in the last 24 hours. While more than 1.66 crore doses of vaccine have been administered till 7 a.m. today.
Health ministry said that a total of 17,407 new cases have come out today from Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka collectively.
With this figure, India’s active caseload has reached 1,73,413 today. Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 9,855 with maximum casualties (42). This is the highest number recorded in Maharashtra since 18th October when 10,259 new cases were reported. It is followed by Kerala with 2,765 and 15 deaths while Punjab reported 772 new cases and 12 deaths in the last 24 hours.
On the other hand, nearly 1 million doses have been distributed across the country in these 24 hours.
More than 1.66 cr (1,66,16,048) vaccine doses have been administered through 3,23,064 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am today. These include 67,90,808 HCWs (1st dose), 28,72,725 HCWs (2nd dose), 58,03,856 FLWs (1st dose) and 4,202 FLWs (2nd Dose), 1,43,759 beneficiaries aged more than 45 years with specific co-morbidities (1st Dose) and 10,00,698 beneficiaries aged more than 60 years.
