India registered 31,222 new Covid-19 cases and 290 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry data at 8 am on Tuesday. The daily recorded cases are 19.8 per cent lower than yesterday.
The top five states which registered maximum cases are Kerala with 19,688 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 3,626 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,556 cases, Mizoram with 1,468 cases and Karnataka with 973 cases. These five states accounted for 87.47 per cent of the new cases, with Kerala alone responsible for 63.06 per cent.
Maximum death cases were also reported from Kerala (135), followed by Maharashtra with 37 daily deaths.
The total caseload now stands at 3,30,58,843 while the overall death toll is at 4,41,042.
India’s recovery rate now stands at 97.48 per cent. A total of 42,942 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 3,22,24,937 across the country.
India’s active caseload stands at 3,92,864. In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 12,010.
On the vaccination front, India administered a total of 1,13,53,571 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 69,90,62,776.
A total of 15,26,056 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
