Centre approves Haffkin Institute to produce Covaxin on transfer of technology basis
Mumbai-based Haffkin Institute has received permission from the Centre on Thursday to manufacture Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin on the basis of transfer of technology.
The owner of the institute, the Maharashtra government thanked PM Modi for the approval and tweeted, “The Dept. Of Science and Technology, Government of India, has granted approval to Haffkin Institute to produce Bharat Biotech’s CovaxinCovaxin vaccine on a transfer of technology basis.”
“CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has thanked Prime Minister for approving this request,” the tweet from the CM Office added.
Maharashtra is currently among the highest Covid case spike states.

EU to receive 50 mn doses of Pfizer after Denmark bans Astra over clot issue
On Wednesday, the European Union said that it would get 50 million Pfizer vaccine doses earlier than expected after Denmark banned use of AstraZeneca over blood clot links.
The news broke out after U.S. drugmaker Johnson & Johnson delayed its Covid-19 shot among rising caseloads. Referring to the delay, EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said “there are still many factors that can disrupt the planned delivery schedules of vaccines.”
The EMA said J&J was in contact with national authorities and recommended storing doses already received until the safety committee issued an expedited recommendation, reports Reuters.
Europe will receive BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine doses in the second quarter of this year and the delivery will start as soon as this month.
India is reaching a landmark of 11 Crore inoculations as more than 10.8 crore doses have been administered as on April 13, 2021, till 8:00 PM.

Tika Utsav Day 2: More than 37 Lakh Covid vaccines given till 8pm today
After PM Modi launched Tika Utsav yesterday, the country saw a rapid increase in inoculation numbers across the country. Day 2 of the countrywide Tika Utsav saw many Workplace Vaccination Centres operational across the country in the government and private sector.
On the second day of Tika Utsav, more than 37 lakh vaccine doses were administered till 8 pm today. On an average 45,000 COVID Vaccination Centres (CVCs) are functional on any given day. Today, 71,000 CVCs were operational, marking a rise of an average of 26,000 operational Vaccination Centres.
The cumulative number of COVID19 vaccine doses administered in the country stands at 10,82,92,423 as per the 8 pm provisional report today.
Total 37,63,858 vaccine doses were given till 8 pm today, the Eighty Seventh day of nationwide COVID19 vaccination. Out of which 32,60,713 beneficiaries were vaccinated for 1st dose and 5,03,145 beneficiaries received 2nd dose of the vaccine as per the provisional report.

India achieves a landmark of 10 crore vaccine coverage, continues to report highest average doses per day
More than 10 crore doses have been inoculated across India. On Day 85 of vaccination drive, 35,19,987 doses were given.
Cumulatively, 10,15,95,147 vaccine doses were administered through 15,17,963 sessions.
No. of cases registered in the last 24 hours reached 1,52,879 on Sunday, April 11.
Ten states including Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have shown a steep rise in COVID daily new cases. 80.92% cases were registered from these 10 states.
India’s Cumulative Vaccination Coverage exceeds 9 Crores with nearly 30 Lakh Vaccine doses given in the last 24 hours.
According to a provisional report issued by the health ministry, , 9,01,98,673 vaccine doses have been administered through 13,77,304 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am today.
As on Day-82 of the vaccination drive (7th April, 2021), 29,79,292 vaccine doses were given. Out of which, 26,90,031 beneficiaries were vaccinated across 38,760 sessions for 1st dose and 2,89,261 beneficiaries received 2nd dose of vaccine.
4.5 cr doses administered, cumulative fatality dips rate to 1.37%
As on Day-65 of the vaccination drive (21st March, 2021), total 4,62,157 vaccine doses were given. As it was a Sunday, many States and UTs did not schedule vaccination sessions.
Out of which, 4,49,115 beneficiaries were vaccinated across 8,459 sessions for 1st dose (HCWs and FLWs) and 13,042 HCWs and FLWs received 2nd dose of vaccine.
The total vaccination coverage in India has crossed the 4.5-crore mark.
India’s cumulative recoveries stand at 1,11,51,468 today. The national Recovery Rate is 95.75%. 21,180 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.
Fourteen States/UTs have not reported any COVID19 deaths in the last 24 hours.
