Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, said on Tuesday that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is suffering from minor symptoms.
The wealthy philanthropist stated on Twitter that he will isolate himself until he is well again.
“I’m fortunate to be vaccinated and boosted and have access to testing and great medical care,” Gates wrote.
With a $65 billion endowment, the Seattle-based Bill and Melinda Gates Charity is the world’s most important private foundation.
Bill Gates has been a prominent supporter of pandemic preparedness measures, particularly access to vaccinations and treatment for developing countries. The Gates Foundation said in October that it would pay $120 million to provide access to generic versions of Merck’s antiviral COVID-19 tablet for low-income nations.
